Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to the questions we receive the most about our services. If we missed anything, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help.

While we believe drilling a safe should be a last resort, sometimes the only viable method to open a safe is to drill a very small, precise hole to disable a failed lock or triggered relocker. In these instances, we will use a hardened steel insert to plug the hole left behind. We then smooth over the surface and paint the new metal. This will have a net result of a more secure safe than it was new. We pride ourselves on the high quality, seamless, and almost always invisible repair.

Certain very low budget “safes” purchased from hardware stores are effectively destroyed in the opening process due to the disposable design & nonstandard manufacturing processes. If this is the case we will let the customer know on the phone during the initial evaluation before making a service visit.

Often times we can recover a factory reset code or combination on file with the manufacture, if one was recorded. We are on all major safe manufactures authorized service provider list.

Not all mechanical locks are built to the same specification or standard. There are different grades, ratings, and manufacturing tolerances across the industry. Mechanical locks do at times fail, however the most common occurrence is due to wear, and the combination effectively “shifts” numbers slightly.

There are a seemingly endless variations of electronic safe locks in use. Some are very high quality and have lasted several decades. The bulk of electronic locks found in residential safe instances are typically a “consumer grade” lock. These can experience everything from electronics failure, to software corruption, to out right wear and tear.
